Poson Bhathi Gee is a serene Sri Lankan cultural event organized to celebrate the essence of Poson by commemorating the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka. The Department of English Language Teaching (DELT), University of Kelaniya celebrated Poson Bathi Gee for the first time on 25th June, 2026. The event was organized by the first-year undergraduates marking the beginning of a new tradition in the department. All undergraduates and the staff members were dressed in white attire, reflecting the calmness and serenity of the Buddhist culture. The DELT premises were adorned with lanterns and Buddhist flags.
The music and the classic Sri Lankan songs gave a calm, spiritual touch to the department’s auditorium. Students from all four batches and the staff members actively participated in the event and sang Bakthi Gee, despite their religious backgrounds, reflecting the unity among the TESL community.
Poson Bathi Gee united everyone under one roof by providing new experiences and encouraging everyone to respect each other’s cultures.
